There’s a saying that a picture is worth 1000 words.  I have never really tested that theory, however a picture in math class can generate plenty of discussion. (see my post on watermelons).

These are simply pictures that can generate a mathematical discussion. They can be used for estimation purposes. They could be used for counting strategies. I just saw the “mathiness” in each of these pictures.

***As a matter of fact, my son has now been on a scavenger hunt to find math pictures…so there’s plenty more to come***
